So it's been awhile...sorry to those of you who actually read/follow this blog.
Due to a not so hot GPA (to me) at the end of my freshman year of college, I have enrolled in a summer course of Intro to Philosophy at Kirkwood this summer and have 4 full weeks left. This whole idea of taking a class in the summer is new to me and I don't mind it. Less money out of my pocket in the long run and it fulfills a core class at UNI without so much hard work. No I'm not lazy, I just like to get things done faster and in this class we cover the basics and hit the main points. So far it's ok, just a lot of deep thinking to this class which I'm not used to doing in the summer. It has taught me how to look at arguments and tell if the evidence backing up an argument is solid and believable.
I have also spent a fare share of time working on my entrance essays for my Allen Radiology application. I'm trying my hardest to get the whole application done before school starts in a little over a month, which I think I can do. I need to get some things figured out (requirement wise) for me to feel confident in this whole process. One the requirements I am slightly under and would really like to still apply and be done with schooling in 4 years but all of this is God's plan and if I'm supposed to go 5 years then I will. Not knowing exactly what I'm doing and knowing that I will have a small amount of time after 4 years/graduation until I start the long process of paying back loans is really starting to weigh heavily on me. Ideally I would be admitted into the radiology program starting this summer and be done in 4 years but it all depends on if I can get into the program.
Besides going to class and working on my Allen application I have attended a good amount of my brother's baseball games. They made it to the District game where we played Solon and lost 7-2. Quinn has done really well this year in baseball due somewhat to getting his eyes checked and receiving new contacts...in his words, "I can see the ball again". This year was a good year overall for him. He tried out cross country and made it to state, gaining confidence, new friends, and a better 400 and 800 time in track which he made it to state in also! His basketball game came around also and he played quite a bit on varsity this year as a junior with a lot of senior guys out. He seems pretty set in coming to UNI which could be pretty fun in having him around at school. Who knows there may be a chance for him to run on the track team depending on his times this track season which look promising from where he left off last season.
When I'm not doing homework and have free time I like to spend it with friends, when they are around and we have done some cool stuff this summer. My friend Analise has been out West for a good amount of time and when she was home in between trips we attempted to make crab rangoons with our friend Megan. This was such a fun night and made me realize how much I miss cooking/baking things. Lets just say I am going to try to be in the kitchen more before the summer is over.
