Another semester down!!!!!

Well the time is here again where another semester is done and I'm home to celebrate Jesus' birth with family and friends. This semester has been crazy fast and I have been swamped with school work, working, and getting to know more awesome friends on a whole different side of campus. I'm sooo thankful that I met my roomie and decided to rock my life and change lots of things because if I didn't I wouldn't be who I am today.

Many may have known that I had applied to Allen College's Radiology progr
am and had been waiting a long time for the answer. I received the answer when I got back from Thanksgiving break as they had filled all the positions and I would be on a wait list for this year and could reapply next year if I would like. This news stung at first and I haven't really stopped to think hardcore about the future. I truly know that I want to help people and see many different people throughout the day. Right now I am looking into adoption counseling, high school guidance counseling, reality, and I know there are many other options out there and I am looking forward to searching out more options. So this coming semester I am taking some family services, social work, and psychology classes. Then for one fun class I joined women's choir! A lot of my friends are in it and I did enjoy choir in high school so I figured why not.

Another big thing in my life is that I signed a lease this week for an apartment with three of the girls I met this year and truly love! I still can't believe that I will be living there next year and will know some others living there also. This is exciting and scary at the same time but I'm ready to take on the challenge.
Before break the gals and I had a good time going to the men's glee club concert, watching movies, celebrating birthdays, and just being together. We are all looking forward to meeting up for New Years Eve at Abby's in Minn.!

HoLiDaYs!!!

Tis the season for finals, breaks from school, and being with family and friends! I can't believe it is already Wednesday of Thanksgiving break, it has gone fast but I feel I'm getting enough of a break along with doing some homework and getting to see friends. I know it's Thanksgiving but before going on break even though I had big tests and papers I was determined to decorate for Christmas. Some how I really am in a Holiday mood and in a relatively good mood for everything that has to get done. I LOVE CHRISTMAS and the giving times especially having good simple bonding times with family and friends. This is my roomie and I with our winter hats on because believe it or not UNI is the second windiest campus in the United States...that means it is getting cold fast.

Down to the wire

Things are getting down to the wire with one week left until Thanksgiving Break. So many tests and projects due this week and the week after break that I will throughly be glad to enjoy sleeping the first few days of my Christmas break away. I am so ready to be home and relaxing with family and friends I have hardly seen this year!

With things being crazy and confusing I needed a little stability in my life so I had my mom come up Saturday and stay the night. We went down on Main Street Cedar Falls for lunch and to look in the shops then went back to my room to watch some football and hang out. It was so good to just chillax with her without the drive home and wondering if I was going to get all my homework done!

Lately I have been in pretty good spirits considering I haven't heard from Allen yet on the whole radiology thing, have to register for classes this Friday and have not the slightest idea of what I want to take, and still have to figure out some living arrangement for junior year. It feels good to be at peace with all of this and trust it in God's hands because I really can't do much about it until I have some key answers. So if you have any idea of what occupation I may be good at other than radiological technology feel free to contact me because I am open to trying lots of new things and need to get rolling with this plan soon.

Crazy...Insane times

So it has been awhile since my last post but things have gotten away from me.

School has been super busy with studying and trying to stay caught up with things. I truly do think I was insane to take 16 credit hours, work 10 hours a week and spend 5 hours doing club/group stuff. That is like a 40 hour work week and then throw on the countless hours of attempted studying and homework plus a little free time and I really don't think there is enough time in the week for all of this. In an attempt to make things a little better during the holiday and finals season of my life I have resorted to working one day a week and have my free afternoon back to study and catch up each week so I'm hoping that this will help me raise the grades and get through this semester. NEVER again will I attempt to do this!!!

One day about a week or two ago some recruits from Allen college came over to talk in our anatomy class and so afterwards I just asked when one might hear about admissions to the radiography program and they said they just made their final decision and I would hear a yes or no within 2-3 weeks. So my roommate has taken away my honor of checking the mail because every time I do I just get so nervous and my heart races. I really want this answer to be yes and things to just work out but it's in God's timing and plans not mine. I have been thinking of other options though for it that doesn't work out and right now am possibly settled on the idea of becoming an adoption counselor. I have talked to an advisor and am in the works to meet with someone who actually does this job to see if it would be something I am interested in. Lately I have just felt in "no mans land" because I really do need to plan for next semester but I also can't do much since I need an answer from Allen....GRRRRR.

Some of the girls I met this year and my roommate have begun the process of possibly finding a place to live next year off campus. It has been a challenge to find a place for 5 people that isn't overpriced. We have been calling this one lady who has a ton of properties but she just never answers when we call so we will keep trying because leases are being signed already and places will most likely be gone shortly after Christmas.

Halloween weekend was a fun time. Friday night I had to work and it was interesting see who was mixing what together for party drinks and all the different costumes. Saturday I got the pleasure of going to Ft. Dodge to watch Quinn and the Golden Hawk cross country team run at State cross country. From their state standings last year to this year they improved 7 places to get 8th out of 15 teams! It's so hard to believe that his senior year is going so fast with cross country being over and by the time I'm home for Thanksgiving break in two weeks basketball will be under way. On Saturday night some of us went to a party and then some of us came back early and crashed. With the time change we got 5 hours of sleep, it was a long night.

following God's plan

So lately things have been good...almost too good and when you get to comfortable God throws something hard at ya. I have been hit by a brick and now that I took God's actions I feel a million times better.

I have had a good guy friend for about a year and we were starting to become more than friends but there was one tiny problem...we didn't line up on some issues, one being faith and God has really been putting that on my heart when we were together that even though he is a great guy he's not the one for me. So instead of going farther down the road of more than friends I picked up the brick that God threw at me and just said that we wouldn't be right for each other as more than friends. After I said this I felt like the worst person in the world hurting this nice guy but yet I found peace in knowing the devil didn't get me on this one. It is the strangest feeling in the world and I really am confused but I know there will be a better match out there for the both of us and it will just be a matter of time before that person walks into our lives.

My mom has this theory about an "alpha friend" that I don't know all the details to but I understand that the alpha is the more dominant one and that sometimes you just have to switch roles. My roommate Jessica has been the more dominant alpha so far this year and this weekend I took the title from her and became the alpha : ) She had not been home since the middle of August when she spent little time packing for school after being away as a camp counselor, serving on a missions trip, and a family vacation. Somehow her whole ride situation got messed up and I saw a way to give back to her since I have a car and drove her half way home after work on Friday night. Some of our other friends came too and it was a mini road trip that we'll never forget! I'm so glad I got to do this for her and I hope this is a step in breaking down both of our own stuburn walls!

School has been moving fast and it has become apparent to me that I have overloaded my schedule...who did I think I was Superwoman? I just keep telling myself that there are 2 months left and then next semester will be a little easier since I can take less credits. So far this semester I have realized that if I were not to get into Allen for radiology that I really don't want to be a psychology major so I have been thinking about the idea of Communicative Disorders or Communications/Event Coordinating. I still have some research to do about what these careers would offer but I feel that I'm running out of time to decide because I need to start taking some of these classes next semester to graduate at the same time.

Life has apparently just been throwing things at me and I just keep giving it to God.
A phrase that has been with me lately is, "you enter this world with nothing and you will leave with nothing" has really got me thinking that I got the chance to be made by God who already had a plan and instructions for me to live out.

So a lot has been happening in my life lately and now I will tell ya all about it! I have officially finished my application to the radiology program at Allen and am waiting to hear back from them and it can take as long as March 1, 2010 to hear an answer.

Classes have consumed most of my time and so has studying but somehow I'm not failing so that is a good thing. I absolutely love my anatomy class and the professor is awesome! I always want to do well and would rather study that then any of my psychology, China, or math. Right now we are learning all 206 bones in the body and where they are at, along with different types of fractures and structures of the bones. I love this stuff and can't wait to master it for the test in a week!!! (i know that sounds kinda lame)

Things on second floor Rider have been interesting in getting to know more people and spending time watching dancing with the stars, cuddling with blankets and others while watching movies, and just being a part of eachothers' lives. I am just so thankful for these girls : ).

This weekend is family weekend at UNI and I have plans to attend the game with my family and my friend Scott's family. This season UNI has had blow out games, with the exception of the Iowa game which we should have won, so that is fun to be apart of.

So school has been super CRAZY! All last week I spent preparing for this week which contained 4 tests : ( Throw on top of that a random case of the bad allergies and I think this has been worse than any finals week I have had...worse than the one when an old roommate would come in late and be super loud. Well tomorrow is Friday and the worst of it will be over after my first anatomy lecture at 2 pm. The professor for that class is really nice and wants to see all of her students succeed but in lecture she will often say that "we will go into this more in depth in anatomy 2...well some of you will and others just won't make it". This keeps the thought of knowing this stuff like the back of my hand in my head and also scares me at the same time. I want to pass and become a radiological technologist I REALLY DO!!! So long hours and a plan not to wait so long is going to be in action after this week.
On a brighter note it has truly been a blessing living where I do now. My
roommate...AWESOME, all I can say! She is so talented and totally keeps me on track with what I'm doing and should/shouldn't be doing. Plus the other girls in the hall are fun, there is always something going on and it feels good to be there when people have exciting news to share
or when they need some consoling advice.

Also this year I have become a leader at theRock which is the middle school group at Prairie
Lakes Church. Along with another awesome person I lead a group of 6 6th grade girls and it is so fun to watch them understand the message and change from week to week. It was only about a week ago when one of the girls said she didn't like to pray to now wanting us to pray for a bump on her cat's leg. It's kinda cute but I really do hope to walk along side these young girls and teach them something.

To end this post I will put up some photos from Sophomore year so far!

end to the first week

So it has almost been a whole week since I started my sophomore year of college and I have grown so much already. I'm forcing myself to stay busy with meeting new people and attempting to stay on top of all my reading and studying. I did have a meltdown on the first day of school because I was overwhelmed with a lot of new class work and being in a new dorm and adjusting to a fast paced life again. Thankfully my mom called me when I felt alone (even though God never leaves me) and after that talk some girls on my floor found me and I stepped out and just said what was bothering me and they totally understood. I was going to watch an episode of Army Wives after that but instead had my first singing shower party and painted my nails with the girls. They are awesome women to have around and I'm very thankful to have them in my life.

This year I have enjoyed starting off my day with some quiet time and have been reading Esther. She was so bold in her life and used the positions she was in to glorify God to the best of her abilities. This really makes me want to be used by God in whatever way he wants to use me this year. I already feel I have connected with some freshman in my anatomy class which has been pretty cool because we are all going to Allen so I will be around them for awhile. I ran into one of them at BASIC tonight and that was kinda cool just to get to talk to her and know that she goes to church and stuff.

And the homework continues to call so I must go...

start of sophomore year

So school officially starts up again tomorrow and I have to say that it feels weird being back here but being older and I think will be more normal once classes start up.  The classes I'm taking this year are anatomy 1, china, math and decision making, human growth and development, and social psychology.  I'm in a new dorm this year with a new room mate and it is going so much better than the first two!  Since being here I have helped some of my friends move in, got my books, and have fallen off my loft ladder a few times already.

This year will be a big year for me because I will be officially submitting my radiology application and seeing if I get admitted.  I'm so nervous because this is so official and is the next step to becoming an official adult.  I am fully trusting God and his plan for me this year because I know I can not do this on my own at all.

Off to visit some friends and then to theRiver tonight!

End of Summer : (

Well tonight was my last night of the summer to work at Coralville HyVee.  I'm happy and sad at the same time because I did have some good friends there and got to know some of the regular customers but I know I will have new regulars when I start up in Cedar Falls!

I'm happy that school is starting up again soon because I will be able to take care of myself and my schedule, get to see my friends whom I have only talked to over facebook or the phone most of the summer, and will get to finally turn in my radiology school application and wait to hear if I'm admitted.  I hope and pray with all my might that I do get in and if not I will be leaning fully on God for my direction because I have no clue where he might want me to go if this isn't the route.

The end of summer for me this week is very busy.  I'm taking some stuff up early (tomorrow), having breakfast with my favorite teacher and one of my best friends, getting life insurance in line (sounds weird at my age but if something should happen), cleaning, packing, and making time for one more summer get together with friends.  It didn't seem like I was this busy last year the week before school started but it for sure is keeping me on my toes.

Last week my family and I went on a long weekend to St. Louis to relax and hang out.  We hadn't been on a vacation since the summer before I graduated high school and this worked out so we had some fun going to a Cardinals baseball game, the Budweiser brewery, the top of the arch and a jazz club.  We each picked an event and I'm sure you can almost guess who picked what : )  Learning how the arch was made was very interesting and nerve wrecking, seeing those workers up there without harnesses and deciding to put up a net when they got over half way done just in case.  Fact, all 13 workers who started the arch finished the arch alive!

Well it's become a longer night then I thought and I still have more to do...

I hate CVS : (

So here's a little something to broaden ones' knowledge into the medical field, CVS.  CVS is known as Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome and one of my best friends in the whole world has it.  Ever since the beginning of senior year my friend Analise has had uncontrolable boughts of vomiting.  She can feel them coming on now with a start of a headache and if caught early enough can sleep a few rounds off but usually is trading vomiting for sleeping then more vomiting.  She is so strong though all of this and especially at school when there isn't someone there always checking up on her.  She hasn't had one in a long time and now has been under the weather for 2 days sleeping, reading books, and whatever she can do from bed.

I have done a little research on my own about CVS and found that young children can grow out of it while teens and adults usually don't.  Symptoms can be managed with medication to go a few months between vomiting cycles instead of a week or two.  Each case is different and unique and from the sounds/looks of it she will have this the rest of her life unless someone comes up with a new treatment form.

I really do hate it when the "vomit comet", that is what she has named this nagging syndrome, comes to visit her.  It always seems to be at the busiest times for her, and if someone truly knows her they would see a 180 turn.  Normally she is outgoing, fun, friendly, and looking to enjoy life to the fullest but when the "vomit comet" strikes it's almost like she is a different person, dissusional, extreamly tired, and down.  If I could only know what it is like for one visit from the "vomit comet" just to see what she goes through I would do it in a heartbeat.

Seems like recently there has been other bad news deals in my life also.  I found out that a friends dad died about a week ago.  I couldn't even imagine my dad dying at this stage in my life, I mean there are still momentous things that he has to be a part of; my college graduation, helping me find my first place and car, walking me down the isle at my wedding, seeing his grandchildren and more that I'm forgetting.  Carly, if you are reading this I'm very sorry about your loss and I encourage you to cherish the times you had and to always reach out when you need it.  We are your core friends and here for you always.  Also, my friend Gisell's boyfriend died today in a drunk driving accident.  I didn't know much about him but the time I met him he seemed very genuine and a loving man.

The summer advice I have stuck to is that God planned everything before this world was created, all the intricate details and knows every moment of our lives...that is a lot of lives to be incharge of!  Things happen for a reason and this is to test us for something we need to be able to handle with in the future.

So to those who are struggling out there, God planned it all so as long as you are walking down his path you will be safe no matter what!

What I learned in Church today...

In today's message we covered Galatians 5:16-26.  This was an introduction to the fruits of the spirit and a short message of what to do with the sinful acts of nature..."I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the Kingdom of God." 21  There were many analogies of how we should eliminate as much bad from our lives as possible.  My favorite analogy was to think of our life as a garden and the bad things as weeds...you want your garden to look appealing to God and others so you should eliminate things that God and others wouldn't find pleasing if they knew you acted in this way.  Now God already knows everything, all of your thoughts, actions, and words.  This brought to my mind that I need to find some way to calm myself down when I'm mad and not just tear things apart in my head which doesn't really do me much of any good.

Ever since my friend Analise got back from her very long vacation it has been a good time of catching up and hanging out doing different things.  We have hung out with our good friend Megan before she headed off for her vacation, performed a mini photo shoot, shared a home made dinner, and ventured to a friends bonfire all in a matter of a few days.  It seems like no matter what we are doing somehow we end up laughing the longest time over something completely random and pointless.  She is such a good friend and I'm glad she is in my life!

Lately I have become very aware that there is not much summer left.  I have 8 days of my philosophy class left!!! then I head off to St. Louis with the family for vacation, come back to maybe work a day then spend two days packing and move back up to school.  I can't believe there is so much to do and so little time.  So I'm going to take this as a sign to be more productive and get to doing something else.

End to a fun summer

This summer has been a good time for the most part and I have enjoyed hanging out with friends that I don't get to see much throughout the year!  Above are pictures that my friend Analise, Steven, and I took last night as we were just sitting and messing around.

Less than a month...

There is officially less than one month left of summer and I believe it is going to fly by.  I thought that this summer was going to drag and that I would be ok with that because I needed a break and spent much of the first half of summer catching up on sleep and unwinding from a VERY stressful spring semester.  I can pretty much say that I have enjoyed my break and am ready to head back to school and get down to the "real work" of being a student.  Don't get me wrong there are a lot of things this summer that I have wanted to do but haven't gotten to yet but I figure there is still time and hope for these plans.  Some of us realized that we haven't seen much of each other this summer and one of us leaves on the first of August to fulfill her RA duties so we have planned a little get together to say good bye to her and hello to a friend who has been vacationing for virtually a month.  Some things I wanted to do on my own was to lose the 'freshman 15' and I have got it down to 10 but I need to start with regular workouts to get rid of the rest ( I never realized how sport practices really did keep me in shape).  Also this summer I have wanted to be more creative with painting some more pottery, making new jewelry, spicing up the wardrobe a little bit more, and reconnect with some high school friends who I didn't talk to much during the school year.

Some positive things this summer has been being home with family, I liked my freedom and working on my own schedule but this kind of time is limited.  I have also found that with countless hours spent driving to and from work or my summer class I have had time to develop my music sense, even though my friends make fun of me for what is on my ipod, and while driving I have prayed many times.  I feel I have become closer to God in that area but I still do struggle to get into his word daily and I know I would benefit from doing so I just need to carve out some time and do it each day.

Here is a picture of my mom and I at a family friends wedding reception this past month!

Some catching up...

So it's been awhile...sorry to those of you who actually read/follow this blog.

Due to a not so hot GPA (to me) at the end of my freshman year of college, I have enrolled in a summer course of Intro to Philosophy at Kirkwood this summer and have 4 full weeks left.  This whole idea of taking a class in the summer is new to me and I don't mind it.  Less money out of my pocket in the long run and it fulfills a core class at UNI without so much hard work.  No I'm not lazy, I just like to get things done faster and in this class we cover the basics and hit the main points.  So far it's ok, just a lot of deep thinking to this class which I'm not used to doing in the summer.  It has taught me how to look at arguments and tell if the evidence backing up an argument is solid and believable.

I have also spent a fare share of time working on my entrance essays for my Allen Radiology application.  I'm trying my hardest to get the whole application done before school starts in a little over a month, which I think I can do.  I need to get some things figured out (requirement wise) for me to feel confident in this whole process.  One the requirements I am slightly under and would really like to still apply and be done with schooling in 4 years but all of this is God's plan and if I'm supposed to go 5 years then I will.  Not knowing exactly what I'm doing and knowing that I will have a small amount of time after 4 years/graduation until I start the long process of paying back loans is really starting to weigh heavily on me.  Ideally I would be admitted into the radiology program starting this summer and be done in 4 years but it all depends on if I can get into the program.

Besides going to class and working on my Allen application I have attended a good amount of my brother's baseball games.  They made it to the District game where we played Solon and lost 7-2.  Quinn has done really well this year in baseball due somewhat to getting his eyes checked and receiving new contacts...in his words, "I can see the ball again".  This year was a good year overall for him.  He tried out cross country and made it to state, gaining confidence, new friends, and a better 400 and 800 time in track which he made it to state in also!  His basketball game came around also and he played quite a bit on varsity this year as a junior with a lot of senior guys out.  He seems pretty set in coming to UNI which could be pretty fun in having him around at school.  Who knows there may be a chance for him to run on the track team depending on his times this track season which look promising from where he left off last season.

When I'm not doing homework and have free time I like to spend it with friends, when they are around and we have done some cool stuff this summer.  My friend Analise has been out West for a good amount of time and when she was home in between trips we attempted to make crab rangoons with our friend Megan.  This was such a fun night and made me realize how much I miss cooking/baking things.  Lets just say I am going to try to be in the kitchen more before the summer is over.

Growing pains

Lately I have been enjoying time with friends from high school and even some new ones from college.  Two of my college friends and I enjoyed watching the Kalona Days parade while catching up with each other.  When I took my friend back up to her home in Cedar Falls Analise and I decided to walk around campus, this just got both of us excited to be back up there in the fall and maybe even next summer if I get into radiology school.  Through these last couple days I have learned about myself that I enjoy getting to really know my friends and talking about the bigger things in life.  I also know you need to have some good fun times also which is happening a lot since it's summer!  The latest fun adventure was having a small bonfire in the fire pit of my backyard.  We roasted marshmallows and made smores which I haven't done in such a long time.  I am working on remembering these times instead of constantly looking forward to the future.

It has almost been one week since I turned 20 years old.  Things have been good so far and I have been enjoying hanging out with friends and work has become more enjoyable with very interesting customers and situations of being suspected of calling a customer a shop lifter when I only made the generic simple conversation with them.  My all time favorite and creepiest has been when this old client with rotten/missing teeth, came through buying two beers and reached across and grabbed my arm to then say, "if you were a tad older I would ask you to enjoy these with me."  All that ran through my head was "what is he doing and why does he think he can touch me...I was a little alarmed and it just drove home the fact that working later at night can bring in anything.

Today was an interesting experience, I had my first purchase at an auction.  I purchased a purple, 10 speed bike for only $65!!!  It is a little rusty but for the most part it is in good shape and can hopefully get me into good shape too!  I have always loved to run but lately when I do my knee injury flares up and becomes really sore so I'm hoping this low impact activity will do the trick for me.

life's breaking news

Lately I have been consumed with going to State track to watch my brother and the Mid-Prairie team run.  I have attended two of my friends graduation parties, worked (what I think) strange shifts that cause me to not see my family much or really hang out with friends.  I don't mind doing my job...it's pushing me to really find something I want to do for the rest of my life.  I know my job this summer is to make money and relax a little before going into fast pace of school in the fall again.  I really have missed that when at school you could really just call up anyone to eat, hang out, and there was usually always something to do.  Don't get me wrong...I like living in Kalona and knowing lots of great people living here but I really think that this town is for older people and families, so really not my choice of where I want to live within the next five years.  I wouldn't mind living in a city or another state when I'm done with school but in reality I will be landing wherever I end up getting a job or if I'm married then wherever my husband gets a job.

Back to the present day I am currently 6 days away from turning 20 years old.  I'm excited but nervous at the same time.  Growing up I had kinda that timeline that all girls have of when they dream of getting married (picturing Ben Affleck at the end of the asile), how many children to have, what their names will be, and what the house may look like.  Lets just say it's not Ben at the end of the asile anymore, it is an open spot where whomever comes along will fit in just fine.  Only God knows when that day will be and who will be at the end of the asile but I do officially want to say right here and right now that I will 100% try to find the person who God has planned for me.

That's about it for now...Peace out!

Today has been a wonderful day!  I got to meet with one of my great friends Chelsea for coffee and breakfast this morning and then spend some time outside soakin' up the rays and working on some art.  I don't think that anything can really bring me down today!  I feel I have finally accepted that I have no control on what might happen in the future and am ok with that because it's summer and time to relax.

Tomorrow afternoon I will be heading to State Track to watch my brother and the others on the Mid-Prairie track team run on the blue track.  It has been fun watching them at random meets that I have been to this season and I'm sure they will do just as well or better at state.

What do I really want?

Coming home from college I thought with a summer job lined up I would work regular hours and have time to see family and hang out with friends...not quite the picture I have.  Since I started working last Monday I have been stuck on the 4-10:30 shift that doesn't allow me to see my family because I sleep in and get home late.  Most of my friends do work regular hour jobs so I haven't seen much of them either.  This is difficult for me because I like to be social, have time for myself, and a regular schedule (planing ahead).  All of this said I have become more driven to finish college with a degree because I would absolutely hate working this job for the rest of my life and living week to week.

While going to college I have enjoyed different classes like psychology and sociology which is a little different then the science classes that I need to take in order to become a radiological technologist.  There have been many bumps in the road with what major this job title would fall under at UNI and what classes I need to take.  I seem to have gotten all the wrong answers because I was set up to be a pre-med. student and was told I need to take all those classes.  The problem was I was planning on doing radiology classes at Allen college in Waterloo while getting a bachelors at UNI.  UNI wasn't up to date with Allen's information and I got the wrong information which led me to take two classes that I didn't need to take.  I did get the information from Allen college about what I need to do and am on that road now with some more classes I need to take before I can get into Allen.  There are also some other hoops that I need to jump through and road blocks standing in my way which is causing me to wonder if becoming a radiological technologist is really what God wants me to do.  I have thought about becoming a high school guidance counselor but I don't know if that is what I'm supposed to do either.  I just have a lot of unanswered questions about my future and I feel like I'm back at square one when it comes to what to do next.  Do I still take classes to set myself up for radiology, should I just switch to psychology now, I just don't know and I really like to plan things ahead so right now I'm feeling really uneasy about anything in my future.

Life's nagging pains

For about the past week that I have been home I have woken up with a headache every morning and have tossed and turned all night long.  Why is this happening?  You would think that being in my own sturdy bed and not the shaking loft would be more comfortable and allow more sleep.  If anyone has suggestions feel free to post because I have tried different pillows and different blankets and it's not working.

The next thing that bothers me up the waz-oo is from the last time I donated plasma, I don't know what went wrong but on the arm I donated with from my elbow to the tip of my pinky it often goes numb in the day in a half since then.  I'm hoping I just pinched a nerve like I have many times in that arm over the past years, since throwing the discuss, and that it will go away with stretching and time.

So there's my little vent session and I'm hoping things are looking brighter in the near future.

First one!

So...I'm new to this whole blog thing but a few of my friends have them and I think they are really neat so I thought I would give it a try.

My first year of college at UNI went very fast and I can't believe that I'm done and have been on summer vacation for over a week!  The truth is going into college I was scared, excited, nervous and ready to take on the world.  My first roommate was randomly assigned to me and I knew when I first met her in person on move in day that it was not a good match or going to work out.  Gut feelings are usually the right ones to follow and I should have done something sooner but I tried to work it out and needless to say it didn't even last until Thanksgiving.  We were two different people who gave it a go and it just didn't work out.  I then moved into the room right next to my old one with a girl that knew two of my high school friends that also went to UNI.  Things were all good and well and we had some fun!  As the second semester pushed through I met many more new friends and even joined Habitat for Humanity!  As finals before the summer rolled around it was hard to say good bye to the many friends that I had become close to in such little time.

Now that I'm home it's good to be around family and able to 100% relax.  The start of my summer consisted of me unpacking, trying to find a place for everything, attending my brother's track meets, ice cream with some friends, being trained for my job at Hyvee, and taking a friend out for his 20th birthday.  I'm so glad the summer is here and am looking forward to wherever it is going to take me.
